New Workshop coming soon...

We are excited to announce that we are planning another full day workshop for sometime in March. I will limit the group to 8 people this time. If you have any special requests for date/time or materials you would like to see us cover, please send me an email. Workshop will be held at our private Prescott property. The atmosphere will be relaxed and comfortable in order to promote the best possible learning experience for everyone. Lunch will also be included. More details to follow! We will be primarily covering proper posing and lighting techniques for all subjects, both natural, flash and studio. Editing and creating works of art with Lightroom and Photoshop, and tips for running a photography business.

What's my secret to success?

Photography is not a career in which you can expect to become rich quick. It is very expensive to buy, upgrade and maintain professional camera and computer equipment, for starters. Then you have the insurance, taxes, membership dues...the list goes on and on. If you want to be a successful photographer, you have to do it because it's your passion.

Other photographers always ask me "What's your secret to success?" It's really simple. Treat people well, love what you do, and you will succeed. That's it. There are lots of other things that I do that I think help, like being ready for moments that are spontaneous, and knowing how to read people well. There are little things you can do, like just paying attention to what is working, and what is not. Some of these things just cannot be taught. They are just instinctual.

I try my best to respond to every email question that I get from other budding wedding and portrait photographers, but it's just not always possible. My clients come first. I have deadlines to keep, not to mention a husband and children to keep happy as well! My first one on one mentoring session of the year was a huge success! In order to utilize our time efficiently, I had Tara make me a list of things she hoped to learn/accomplish with the mentoring session. We covered things like lighting, posing, expression obtaining and preparation & organization. The five hours seemed to really fly by. Tara told me she felt very inspired & learned a lot. I think the one on one mentoring session is the way to go. I have done group workshops, and although they are a lot of fun, the one on one time really provides more bang for your buck in my honest opinion. I have availability for one more session before my busy wedding season starts. Please contact me for consideration. Attendees have a basic knowledge of photography, looking for help on improving their skills.

Sessions are custom designed to fit your individual needs. Sessions start at $400 for the first one, and additional time available for purchase at a rate of $150 per hour.

Photograph with and learn from Michelle Huber, recently voted best wedding vendor in the industry 2009 by One Wed. Classroom instruction on posing, lighting, expression obtaining techniques, post processing, basic business info, as well as a meal and a free Photoshop actions set will be included. Weather permitting, we will go outside, so dress comfortably, and wear walking shoes. You are not required to bring a camera, but you may want to.
